ABOUT THE COURSE:The course will acquaint students with the major literary works and cinema that were created in the wake of the Partition of India (1947). It looks into the ways Partition is captured through feminist interpretations by different authors and historians. The gamut of artworks selected for the course helps in understanding how the apocalyptic event affected the everyday lives of the common people. The initial classes will be devoted to explaining the historical events that led to the cracking of the Indian subcontinent.
